In Light Of The Government New Second-Lockdown Announcement For Pubs & Restaurants To Close On Thursday 5th November. Alongside The Restrictions Which Are In Place In Scotland And Wales, We Are Acutely Aware Of The Impact This May Have On Many Of Our Customers’ Livelihoods And The Snowball Effect It Can Cause.

If you are closing or closed please ensure that all appliances possible are turned off, that heating is set at minimum. Don’t forget water - check that urinals are turned off and that no toilets or taps are running constantly.

An Important update On Energy Suppliers:

If customers haven’t done so already, they should set up an online account with their suppliers and to submit meter readings on a monthly basis to ensure that bills are based on actual, rather than estimated readings.

If Your Pub is Either Closing Or Re-Opening please Give Your Supplier Meter Readings from That Day To Ensure They Have An Accurate Reading

Prior to cancelling DD's, customers are strongly encouraged to speak with their suppliers. Several larger suppliers have indicated that they will look at low-level DD payments, provide longer-term payment arrangements and that they will not pursue debt or disconnection action during the crisis.

We understand a lot of business owners may be considering cancelling direct debits to energy suppliers to maintain cash flow. However, a phone call to the supplier to come to an agreement is advisable as many suppliers will add an extra 5-10% on the rates or in some cases charge out of contract rates which are typically double.

How lockdowns varies throughout the UK

A new lockdown is planned for England, while Scotland is moving to a five-tier system of coronavirus restrictions from Monday. Wales and Northern Ireland are in the middle of temporary lockdowns.

Wales: As of Friday, October 23 at 18:00 to November 9 at 18:Wales entered a full countrywide “firebreak” lockdown. This includes a lockdown of the hospitality industry.

Avoiding deemed or out of contract rates is paramount to help keep the cost of energy down. If customers allow their contracts to lapse, they will be put on out of contract rates and charged up to double, making it harder for them to trade once the recovery begins
