Office Renovation Weeks 5 and 6: Preparing the Space and Installing New Flooring

Weeks five and six focus on clearing the office space, preparing the floor, and the installation of new carpet tiles.
As the renovation continued through week five, the focus was on preparing the main office space for its next stage of development.

One of the key tasks during this stage was removing the old carpet tiles and clearing the floor space in preparation for the new flooring. This involved moving furniture and creating full access across the office, allowing the team to prepare the area properly before installation could begin.

Installing the Carpet Tiles
With the space being cleared, the office started to feel more open and structured. By the end of week five, the first carpet tiles had started to be fitted, giving an early indication of how the final layout would come together.

Following week five, there was a short break in the renovation schedule over Easter before work resumed on installing the new carpet tiles and continuing to shape the main workspace. Once fitting resumed after Easter in week six, several areas of the office quickly began to take shape. The new carpet tiles made the office feel warmer and more inviting, while also giving a clearer idea of how the finished workspace will look.

These simple changes are already contributing to the overall transformation of the workspace. The modular nature of carpet tiles also brings practical benefits. Individual tiles can be replaced if needed, helping to keep high-traffic areas looking professional without major disruption while maintaining a practical office environment over time.
Comfort, Heating, and Insulation
Beyond aesthetics, carpet tiles play an important role in comfort and functionality within a commercial setting. They help absorb sound, reduce footfall impact, and provide additional insulation. Combined with the office’s heating system, highlighted by the onsite boiler, carpeted floors help maintain consistent warmth, enhance overall comfort and lower energy consumption.

Effective heating and insulation can make a real difference in commercial properties, improving running costs and employee wellbeing. The combination of a well-designed heating system and insulating features, such as carpeted floors, ensures a comfortable working environment. This week’s progress demonstrates how the right materials and systems come together to enhance functionality, comfort, and efficiency.

Looking Ahead
With carpet tile installation now nearly complete, the office is evolving into a more functional and welcoming workspace, with another layer of the renovation coming to life.

The remaining work will focus on refining the space, continuing to improve the environment for everyday use, and preparing it for when the team to move in. Stay tuned for the next renovation update.
